A signal is a software interrupt that reports events to an executing program. The
kill,pkill, andkillallcommands use signals to control processes.Load average is an estimate of how busy the system is. To display load average values, you can use the
top,uptime, orwcommand.The
tunedservice automatically modifies device settings to meet specific system needs based on a predefined selected tuning profile.To revert all changes of the selected profile to the system settings, either switch to another profile or deactivate the
tunedservice.The system assigns a relative priority to a process to determine its CPU access. This priority is called the
nicevalue of a process.The
nicecommand assigns a priority to a process when it starts.The
renicecommand modifies the priority of a running process.
Lab Controls
Click CREATE to build all of the virtual machines needed for the classroom lab environment. This may take several minutes to complete. Once created the environment can then be stopped and restarted to pause your experience.
If you DELETE your lab, you will remove all of the virtual machines in your classroom and lose all of your progress.
