Creating and Reviewing Red Hat Insights Reports

Outcomes

  • View and analyze the results of an Executive report.

  • Create a custom Insights report and analyze its results.

As the student user on the workstation machine, use the lab command to prepare your environment for this exercise, and to ensure that all required resources are available.

[student@workstation ~]$ lab start insights-creating

Instructions

  1. On the workstation machine, open a web browser and navigate to the Hybrid Cloud Console at https://console.redhat.com/insights/. Log in with your Red Hat account.

  2. Download and view the Executive report.

    1. Navigate to SecurityVulnerabilityReports.

    2. Click Download PDF on the Executive report card.

    3. Wait for the report generation and open the downloaded file.

  3. Analyze the results of the Executive report.

    1. View the CVEs section and determine the CVE with the highest CVSS score.

    2. View the Insights Security Rules section and determine the highest severity security rule.

  4. Generate a report of CVEs that have known exploits.

    1. Navigate to SecurityVulnerabilityReports.

    2. Click Create report on the Report by CVEs card.

    3. Select the Known ExploitHas a known exploit filter option.

    4. Click Export report.

  5. Analyze the results of the CVE report.

    1. View the list of CVEs and determine the highest severity CVE.

    2. Click the CVE ID to view more information about it.

Finish

On the workstation machine, use the lab command to complete this exercise. This step is important to ensure that resources from previous exercises do not impact upcoming exercises.
