Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) is a joint offering between Red Hat and Amazon Web Services (AWS). It enables the creation of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) clusters on AWS.
The ROSA cluster creation process creates the required AWS infrastructure components, such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances or Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes.
The management and support of ROSA clusters is shared between the customer, Red Hat, and Amazon Web Services.
Creating a ROSA cluster requires an AWS account with AWS Marketplace permissions to subscribe to ROSA.
To create a ROSA cluster, the AWS CLI (aws) and ROSA CLI (rosa) must be installed on an internet-connected workstation.
The ROSA cluster creation process does not create user accounts.
You can create the cluster-admin administrator account by using the rosa create admin command.
Red Hat recommends configuring an external identity provider for user management.
